July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Volunteers from the Red Bank Chapter of Birthright, a worldwide organization with the mission to help pregnant women in crisis and their babies, will hold a 35th anniversary celebration luncheon Sept. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Branches Restaurant, West Long Branch.

Karen Fitzgerald, director of Red Bank’s Birthright Chapter, and a parishioner of St. James Parish, Red Bank, said, “I have been a Birthright volunteer for 30 years and the experience is one of the most rewarding in my life. It is a privilege to provide gentle loving support to distressed pregnant women in our community.” Birthright provides caring, nonjudgmental support to girls and women who are distressed by an unplanned pregnancy, while using its own resources and those of the community. Positive and loving alternatives are offered through Birthright along with friendship and emotional support, free pregnancy testing and maternity and baby clothes. The organization provides information and referrals to help clients meet legal, medical, financial, and housing needs. All Birthright services are free, absolutely confidential, and available to any woman regardless of age, race, or creed.

All are invited to attend. To have an invitation to the luncheon mailed to your address, or for those interested in sponsorship opportunities, or being a Birthright volunteer, contact Karen Fitzgerald at 732-747-4240. To donate new or gently used baby or maternity clothing, call the Birthright office at 732-747-7600 to make arrangements for delivery.
