Cecilia Arnister, mother of Msgr. Edward Arnister

Msgr. Edward Arnister, pastor of St. Rose Parish, Belmar, was principal celebrant of a Mass of Christian Burial for his mother, Cecilia Theresa Chmielewski Arnister, March 7 in St. Hedwig Church, Trenton. Mrs. Arnister died March 4 in her Lawrence Township home. She was 92.

Born in Trenton, Mrs. Arnister was a lifelong Lawrence Township resident. She graduated from St. Hedwig Grammar School and was a devoted parishioner of St. Hedwig Parish, where she was a member of the Sodality and Parent Teacher Association. She also enjoyed attending Divine Mercy Parish/Holy Cross worship site. She worked for many years at Stangl Pottery in Trenton, using her artistic talent as a hand-painter of dinnerware.

After her children were grown, she was employed in the food services department in Notre Dame High School, Lawrenceville.

Mrs. Arnister was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Rose Dworak Chmielewski; her loving husband of 51 years, Anthony Arnister, who passed away in 1998; brothers, Thomas, Thaddeus, Joseph (Tracey), Stanley and Leon Chmielewski; and sisters, Helen Chmielewski and Katherine Varga.

In addition to Msgr. Arnister, Mrs. Arnister is survived by her children, Felician Sister M. Juanita (Christine) of Lodi; John, who was her compassionate caregiver at home; Joan (Ted) Russell, and Carolyn Arnister; a sister, Claire Zimmer of Lawrence Township; family friend, Theresa Vaillancourt of Jacksonville, Fla., and several nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Burial was in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Hamilton Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers Mass cards from either St. Hedwig Parish or Divine Mercy Parish. Memorial donations may be sent to the Felician Sisters, c/o Sister Juanita Arnister, 260 S. Main St., Lodi, N.J., 07644.
