Students at Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, joined in the effort to help the people of Haiti by raising $19,500, which the school presented to the Catholic Medical Mission Board Feb. 4.

According to Christian Brother James Butler, principal of CBA, a dress down day held Jan. 27 to raise funds for Haiti drew tremendous support among students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni. Students of CBA joined Brother James and Christian Brother Frank Byrne, president, in presenting a check for the funds they raised to Paul Maguire, development director of the CMMB. On hand for the check presentation in the school’s Alumni Hall were students Mike Biebel of Holmdel, Colin Hassell of Aberdeen, Keith Brown of Colts Neck, Billy McCue of Marlboro, Patrick McCarren of Manasquan, and Tyler DeBoer of Atlantic Highlands.

Catholic Medical Mission Board is an organization dedicated to providing quality healthcare solutions to some of the world’s neediest people that has been working in Haiti for more than 80 years.

Founded in 1928, CMMB is unique in that the organization provides a unified approach to healthcare: acquisition and distribution of pharmaceuticals, placement of medical volunteers, and the management of specific programs to address HIV/AIDS, child health, and neglected diseases.
