July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
Caritas Chamber Chorale, directed by Barbara Sanderman, will present its spring benefit concert series, entitled “Choosing Joy” June 9 at 4 p.m. in St. Margaret Church, 300 Ludlow Ave., Spring Lake.
The concert will feature music by the masters including Notre Père (Lord’s Prayer) by Duruflé, sung in French, and the hauntingly beautiful Alleluia by American composer Randall Thompson. Resounding drums will intensify the joy in the voices of the chorale as they sing spirituals and a processional song from Africa.
Admission is free. A free will donation will be accepted with all proceeds supporting the Gianni Diurni Primary School in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, which is run by the Adorno Fathers’ St. Francis Caracciolo Mission.
Caritas Chamber Chorale is a 19-voice a cappella choral ensemble based in Far Hills, N.J. Since its founding in 2005, Caritas Chamber Chorale has sung concerts for the Adorno Fathers’ African Mission, raising over $50,000 for them.
