Browns Mills' Cub Scouts earn their religious awards

The Boy Scouts of America encourages members to earn the Religious Emblems provided by each Scout’s parish.

Father Edwin Matthias, pastor of St. Ann Parish, Browns Mills, recently had the privilege of presenting emblems to four young, outstanding Cub Scouts who are parishioners.

“Light of Christ” can be earned by Tiger and Wolf Scouts. George Inge and Bryan Fluharty both completed the program and successfully earned this emblem.

Older Cub Scouts, Bear and Webelos, may earn the “Parvuli De” (Child of God) Emblem. Martin Hoffman, Jr., and Bret Zdaniecki completed this program and earned this emblem.

Scout Leader Martin Hoffman, Sr., served as adult advisor for the Scouts while they worked on completing the many religious projects required in each program.  In order to earn the Religious Emblem, the Scouts put their Catholic faith into practice by participating in outreach efforts around St. Ann Parish, such as helping to collect food for the parish food pantry and clean around the parish grounds.

Inge is a member of Pack 152, sponsored by the American Legion Post 294 while the other Cubs are members of Pact 415 sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church in Pemberton.
