A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 19 in Henderson Theater of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, for Christian Brother Charles F. Kitson, Jr., who died suddenly March 11 while attending meetings at the Mont La Salle Retreat and Conference Center, Napa, Calif.

He was a member of the board of trustees at Christian Brothers Academy and a 2014 CBA Hall of Fame inductee.

He received the religious habit of the Christian Brothers in Barrytown, N.Y. Aug. 27, 1966. Brother Charles was a graduate of St. Mary School, New Monmouth, Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, The Catholic University, Washington, D.C., and the University of Notre Dame where he earned a master of science degree. Brother Charles’ assignments included St. Raphael Academy, Pawtucket, R.I., Christian Brothers Center, Narragansett, R.I., where he was director of vocations, La Salle Academy, Providence, R.I., where he served as director of campus ministries, Tides Family Services Latin Outreach Program, Pawtucket, R.I. and San Miguel School, Providence, R.I. He served from 2008 to 2013 in the Generalate as secretary for Lasallian Family and Association. He was auxiliary provincial for Community Life and Formation for the District of Eastern North America for the past three years.

He is survived by his father, Charles F. Kitson, Sr.; a sister; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The San Miguel School of Providence, 535 Branch Avenue, Providence, R.I., 02904-2287.
