Princeton Area Young Adults, a ministry of St. Paul Parish, Princeton, is once again looking forward to hosting Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., for the June 19 session of Theology on Tap, 7 p.m. at Triumph Brewery, 138 Nassau Street, Princeton.

After keynoting a Princeton session of Theology on Tap in June last year, the Bishop was eager to repeat the experience, saying as much to Msgr. Joseph Rosie, St. Paul’s pastor.

Said Kait Mayer, St. Paul’s coordinator of young adult ministry, “We hope for this to be an opportunity to reach out to young adults in our area who aren’t involved or who are maybe less involved in Church life.

“Bring some friends – the more the merrier!”

Theology on Tap typically takes place in one of the two upstairs rooms in Triumph Brewery. Doors open at 7 p.m.

“During that gather time, young adults have the opportunity to talk casually, mix and mingle, and order any food or drink before the formal program begins,” Mayer said. “The program itself kicks off at approximately 7:30 p.m. with a welcome by me, opening prayer by one of our young adults, and then the talk by our featured speaker.

“Usually the talk is about 30 minutes,” she continued. “Following the talk, we have a 10-15 minute break so folks can submit their questions and then we do a Q&A session, usually just until we run out of time. I typically ask the speaker if they’d like to lead us in closing prayer.”

Theology on Tap began in the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1981, and has been a successful vehicle for reaching young adults interested in learning more about their faith. Launched by the RENEW initiative in 2003 to bring Theology on Tap nationwide, the structure of a featured speaker followed by a discussion takes place in community gathering spaces.
