Bishop O'Connell's video message transcript to all those impacted by Hurricane Sandy
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
It’s very important for everyone who’s been affected by the hurricane, and the fact of the matter is, everyone has, to try to remain as calm as possible and as patient as possible.
As difficult as that is at this time, without electricity, without the basic needs, I know people are going to get very upset and their nerves are going to be frayed a bit. It’s important to try to remain calm. We’re going to get through this. We’re going to get through this together.
You know, as Catholics we embrace one another in times of need and this is one of those times of need. You know we think about the Scriptures the 2nd letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians “we are afflicted in every way possible but never crushed, full of doubts, but never despairing” and that’s the message that we have to keep in mind. In Christ there is always hope. So God bless you, we love you and whatever we can do to help you we will.
