Bishop O'Connell to celebrate Mass for Life tomorrow in Trenton

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Jan. 21, 2016 — Because of forecasted inclement weather and an impending state of emergency declared in our nation’s capital, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will no longer travel to Washington, D.C., tomorrow to participate in the March for Life. Instead, Bishop O’Connell will celebrate Mass for the Day of Prayer for the Protection of Unborn Children at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, to mark the somber anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision by the United States Supreme Court which legalized abortion.

In a message to his brother priests, Bishop O’Connell welcomed and encouraged all the faithful to attend the Mass, especially those who may also have adjusted their plans.  All priests of the Diocese also were invited to concelebrate. The Bishop also urged any parish and school groups who still planned to make the pilgrimage to the March to practice good judgement and caution.

Many of the parish and Knights of Columbus-sponsored buses that had originally planned to travel to Washington, D.C., now plan to travel to Trenton for the Mass for Life. Check with your bus captain for updated information, including departure times. Contact information for bus captains can be found here.
