Bishop celebrates All Saints Day Mass with Notre Dame school community

On All Saints Day, Nov. 1, Notre Dame High School, Lawrenceville, welcomed Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., to celebrate Mass for the Holy Day of Obligation for the entire community.
Reflecting on All Saints Day, which honors all of the saints, known and unknown, within the Catholic Church, Bishop O’Connell, in his homily explained how “each and every one of us can live out our lives as saints” by performing good works with compassion and learning how to keep the faith in times of hardship.

A number of students remarked on how meaningful it was for them to serve the Mass with the Bishop.
Anna Sarubbi, Class of 2020, who was an altar server, said she found it “very interesting to see how [the Bishop] worked during Mass and hear his homily, which reminded me how to live my own life.”
Matt Reed, Class of 2019, who served as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, appreciated how the Bishop can “relate to kids and keep our attention.”
“His homily was encouraging and inspiring, saying that any one of us has the capability of becoming a saint,” Reed said.
Christina Morris, Class of 2019, who was one of the readers for the Prayers of the Faithful, said, “I look forward to when the Bishop joins us for liturgy. He always contributes to the exciting atmosphere.”
