On a breezy mid-summer evening July 11, Msgr. Edward J. Arnister, pastor of Belmar's St. Rose Parish, joined Kathleen McGee-Daly's Strings by the Sea orchestra concert at the Avon Pavilion, at the Avon-by-the-Sea oceanfront, singing a rendition of “Climb Every Mountain” from “The Sound of Music.”

Dozens of residents, parishioners and summer visitors attended the free boardwalk concert and enjoyed a multitude of songs from the orchestra of all ages. McGee-Daly, an accomplished musician, private teacher and professor of music at colleges around the state, noted that the series began 10 years ago on her porch. She said she was happy to see the series flourish in such a location and to have Msgr. Arnister join the group for some songs.

The ensemble’s next appearance at the Avon Pavilion will be 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
