Awards Luncheon for Sisters of Mercy set for May 9

A benefit luncheon for the Sisters of Mercy’s Mercy Center and Sisters Academy, both in Asbury Park, will be held May 9 in the Navesink Country Club, Middletown. Sister Diane Szubrowski and Lisa Fontenelli will be honored at the fifth annual “Walk with Mercy” luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m. and includes lunch, the awards presentation and a musical performance by the students of Sisters Academy of New Jersey.
The Mercy Center offers the poor and disadvantaged of Asbury Park a large food pantry and meeting space in a clean, safe and quiet environment. The Sisters Academy, run by the Sisters of Mercy, is a grade five through eight middle school dedicated to educating girls in an academically challenging and highly disciplined learning environment.
Sister Diane Szubrowski began her career as a classroom teacher and went on to serve as principal of St. Francis School, Metuchen. She currently serves on staff of the institutional advancement office at Georgian Court University, Lakewood.
Lisa Fontenelli has worked for over two decades at Goldman Sachs, currently as deputy head of global investment research and head of securities research. She also sits on the board of trustees of Georgian Court University and on the advisory council of the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, N.Y.
