July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Funeral services were to be held Jan. 12 and 13 in St. Paul Church, Burlington, for Anna E. Jones, who died suddenly Jan. 6 in her Burlington residence. She was 89.

Jones is remembered for her many years of service to the former St. Paul Parish, which is now part of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Burlington, and St. Paul School. In the parish, she was director of religious education, librarian, greeter, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, reader, a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and the choir.

In addition, she volunteered for more than 15 years in St. Paul School. She used her library background to catalog books in the library and tell stories to students in grades pre-K through third grade. She also assisted at-the-time principal Mercy Sister Mary Peter Damian Mitchell with preparing for school Masses and productions.

Jones worked for the Burlington County Library System, where she hosted puppet plays and story hours at the library. She was also instrumental in starting a Book Mobile, which traveled to different communities throughout the county, encouraging the benefits of reading. The Book Mobile allowed many members of the county who did not have a means of transportation to the library, to access books.

Jones was predeceased by her parents, Frank A. and Anna E. Myers Jones, a brother, Deacon Francis Jones, and her sister-in-law, Helen. She is survived by a nephew James F. (Valerie) and a niece, Lisa Ann, all of Burlington.

Viewing hours will be in St. Paul Church, 223 E. Union Street, Burlington, Jan. 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Jan. 13 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 10. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Burlington.

Memorial donations may be made either to St. Paul Strong, 250 James Street, Burlington, N.J. 08016 or to St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 223 E. Union Street, Burlington, N.J. 08016.
