Adult Faith Formation ministry training planned for parish leaders

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

A series of ministry training sessions to assist parishes wishing to form Adult Faith Formation teams will be provided throughout the fall months in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold.

The training is sponsored by the Diocese of Trenton’s Department of Evangelization and Family Life. All sessions are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Co-Cathedral’s Trinity Hall:

Oct. 27 • Jumpstarting Adult Faith Formation Ministry in Your Parish

Presenter: Gary Maccaroni, pastoral associate in St. Ann Parish, Lawrenceville. Summary: A parish must broaden its understanding of adult faith formation, be enthusiastic and committed in a process that can take time to develop and sustain.  It will lead participants through the setting of vision for their own parish and explore how to jumpstart and/or strengthen the work of adult faith formation within the parish.

Nov. 10 • Nuts and Bolts of Developing a Parish Adult Formation Ministry

Presenter: Nanci Bachman, pastoral associate in St. David the King Parish, Princeton Junction. Summary: Eight major documents have been published by the Church, since the ending of Vatican II, calling for adults to be at the center of the Church’s educational mission.  This presentation will offer adult learning styles, essential fundamentals, methods and strategies that help quench a thirst for a deepening of a lived faith in our adult community.

Nov. 17 • Creating & Facilitating Small Faith Communities

Presenter: Barbara Rookey, director of religious education in St. Isidore the Farmer Parish-Assumption campus, New Egypt. Summary: Two realities confront society today: individualism and the divorce of faith from ordinary family and social life. Yet in the midst of these seemingly negative factors, a quiet revolution is taking place in the hearts of many: a longing for community. This workshop will establish the theological framework for Small Faith Communities, and will present practical skills to establish and facilitate effective small and large group gatherings.

Training sessions include coffee and lunch. Cost to attend all three sessions is $30. Limited space is available. To register online, visit dioceseoftrenton.org/events/aff-ministry-training-fall-2018.
