Adoption Expo a success at St. Barnabas

More than 100 attendees, some traveling long distances from around New Jersey and Pennsylvania, recently convened in the parish hall of St. Barnabas Church, Bayville, for the parish’s first adoption expo.

A diverse group of 13 adoption organizations, including international, domestic and state agencies as well as advocacy groups and legal counsel, were on hand to provide information and insight on the adoption process. A speaker’s forum was also offered to allow each organization an opportunity to discuss their work in detail.

Sue Higgins, chairperson of the respect life committee at St. Barnabas, considered the event a success and said that other area parishes have already expressed interest in hosting their own adoption expos.

“It is most rewarding to see that this concept might spread to other parish communities, hence spreading the word about adoption to those that might not have otherwise considered it,” Higgins said.
