The diocesan Department of Pastoral Care will host A Day of Consolation for those in bereavement ministry and for those affected by hurricane Sandy, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 5 p.m. in St. Mary Church, 1 Phalanx Rd., Colts Neck.

In the midst of the catastrophic property damage and loss of homes and businesses from hurricane Sandy, this day of consolation, prayer and Eucharistic healing is being offered for the victims as well as those interested in learning about the healing process of those in grief, to inform and educate those involved in the Bereavement Ministry on different levels and to provide guided information through the presentation to enhance the ministry.

National consolation speaker, Father Terence Curley, an adjunct staff member of the Family Life Office of the Archdiocese of Boston and a licensed mental health counselor who has ministered to the bereaved for the past two decades will be the guest speaker.  He will discuss dealing with grief and spiritual rebuilding during this time of loss and despair.  He will talk about the recent losses with the immediate and long term affects of grief in the community.

Continental breakfast and light lunch will be served.  Registration is $10 and will be collected at the event.  Registration required in advance by Nov. 30.  To register, call 609-403-7157 or e-mail [email protected].
