Holy Cross school’s Christmas play brings together those of all ages

For Holy Cross Academy students and parents, the culmination of Advent is the annual Christmas concert and Nativity play, and this year’s production saw numerous generations take part.
During the weeks of Advent, each class prepared for the performance by practicing Christmas tunes and traditional hymns. This year, in addition to song, rhythm and jazzy dance moves, the audience was treated to videos of students playing keyboard in the new Keyboard Lab purchased for the music program by the Rumson school's PTA.
Following the concert, the Nativity story was narrated and enacted by students of all ages; little sheep from kindergarten; prophets, shepherds and wise men from middle school, the Angel Gabriel by sixth-grader Carolena Young, the Blessed Mother and by eighth-grader Lorraine Lombardo and St. Joseph by eighth-grader Matthew Wilhelm.
Baby Jesus was portrayed by a new member of the Holy Cross family – the granddaughter of Susan Ryerson, who has taught at Holy Cross for more than 40 years.
