Students' Christmas artwork receives national recognition

Juliann Dietrich, a sixth-grader in St. Leo the Great School, Lincroft, left, and Angelina Ramos, an eighth-grader in Pope John Paul II Regional School, Willingboro, right, were among 24 students from throughout the country who traveled to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, Dec. 6. There they were honored as winners in the 2018-2019 National Christmas Artwork Contest, sponsored by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, Missionary Childhood Association. Both students’ artwork, which depicts colorful yet prayerful scenes of the Holy Family, is on display during the 2019 Advent and Christmas seasons in the Basilica. The day included Mass, the presentation of awards and lunch. Here, Dietrich and Ramos are pictured with Father Peter James Alindogan, diocesan director of missions and pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish, West Long Branch, who traveled to Washington for the occasion.
