Funeral services have been scheduled for Sister Clara Schroder who died Dec. 11 in St. Michael Villa, Englewood Cliffs. She was 83.

Visitation will take place Dec. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. in St. Michael Villa, 399 Hudson Terrace, with a wake service starting at 6. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Dec. 14 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Born in April 1,936, in Hopewell, Sister Clara was adopted and raised by the late Alfons and Clara Holdt Schroeder.

Sister Clara entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace at St. Michael Novitiate Sept. 12, 1957, and pronounced final vows Aug. 22, 1965.

Her years of ministry included teaching in various Catholic schools in Bergen County. She held a master’s degree in gerontology and worked with the elderly in ministries ranging from coordinating congregate meal services in a senior residence as office manager. She ministered to the elderly in Visitation Parish, Brick until she retired in 2008 and she also served in St. Dominic Parish, Brick, as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and spiritual director, serving the elderly and homebound.

Memorial donations may be made to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, Shalom Center, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, N.J. 07632-2806.
