OSV News – If you have a library card, you might already have on-the-go access to some great spiritual classics written by saints.
Many public libraries partner with the Libby app to provide access to a digital collection of e-books and audiobooks that you can borrow for free to your phone, tablet or computer, and there are several Catholic saints whose works are listed in the app.
Because libraries curate their own catalog of available books, not every title will be available everywhere or may have a waitlist. If that’s the case, most libraries allow patrons to recommend titles for purchase – so if one of the books below catches your eye, it may be worth requesting.
Here are 10 saints whose works you can search for on the Libby app, libbyapp.com:
St. Benedict of Nursia – “The Rule of St. Benedict”
St. Bernard of Clairvaux – “Life of St. Malachy of Armagh” and “On Loving God”
St. Bonaventure – “Holiness of Life,” “The Nightingale,” “Expositio Missae” and “The Life of Saint Francis of Assisi”
St. Catherine of Siena – “The Dialogue of Saint Catherine of Siena”
St. Francis de Sales – “Maxims and Counsels of St. Francis de Sales,” “Introduction to the Devout Life” and “Treatise on the Love of God”
St. Ignatius of Loyola – “The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius” and “The Autobiography of St. Ignatius”
Blessed Raymond of Capua – “The Life of St. Catherine of Siena”
St. Justin Martyr – “The First Apology of St. Justin Martyr”
St. Teresa of Avila – “Interior Castle”
St. Thomas More – “Utopia” and “A Dialogue of Comfort against Tribulation”
