Terry Ginther, who has served the Church of Trenton in many roles in both parish and diocesan capacities, is bringing a close to her 30-year career at the end of June.
Ginther is currently the diocesan chancellor and executive director of the diocesan Office of Pastoral Life and Mission. Her early work for the Church included serving as pastoral associate for Christian formation in St. Mary of the Lake Parish (now part of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish), Lakewood, which included full implementation of the parish’s Order of Christian Initiation of Adults process, other faith formation and Bible studies, parish mission planning and leadership development.
In 2002, Ginther began her first diocesan position as associate director of the Office of Catechesis, followed by appointments as diocesan director of pastoral planning in 2007; executive director of the Office of Pastoral Life and Mission in 2011, and in 2017 she was appointed diocesan chancellor by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. When Ginther was named chancellor, she regarded it as “a huge honor,” especially since she was the first woman to serve in that role in the Diocese’s then136-year history.
Ginther is a resident of Wall Township and member of St. Denis Parish, Manasquan. She and her husband, Adam, are the parents of two adult children, Nicholas and Katy, and they have two grandchildren.
A more in-depth story will run in the May issue of The Monitor.
