The March 29 Tenebrae service in St. Catherine Laboure Church, Middletown, gave parishioners and visitors an opportunity to reflect on the upcoming events of Holy Week, namely Christ’s Passion and Death.
Tenebrae, which is Latin for darkness, is a Christian tradition that begins with a lit candelabra prominently displayed. As the service progresses, the candles are snuffed out one by one, until only one is left – a symbol of the promise of Christ’s triumph over death and darkness.
More on the Tenebrae service in St. Catherine Laboure Church will be posted to TrentonMonitor.com.
