Parishioners in the Diocese of Trenton have once again showed their generous spirit and commitment to faith-based higher education through their support of the annual collection to benefit The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.
During the weekend of Sept. 6-7, 2025, local parishes participated in the annual national collection for CUA, which was founded as the national Catholic university by the U.S. Bishops and chartered by Pope Leo XIII in 1887.
The latest collection in the Diocese’s parishes yielded $139,909, which represents an increase of nearly $19K over the 2024 collection. Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., who served as CUA’s 14th president before his appointment to the episcopacy of the Diocese of Trenton in 2010, expressed “pride and gratitude as a former president for the generosity of our Diocese.”
University officials acknowledged the donation in a letter sent to the Diocese, expressing the gratitude of the university community for the support of parishioners throughout the Diocese of Trenton.
