A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 29 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa., for Franciscan Sister Regina McCloskey who died Jan. 22. She was 94.
A professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 72 years, Sister Regina entered the congregation in 1951 and professed her first vows in 1954. She earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa., and a master of arts degree in theology from St. Bonaventure University, St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
Sister Regina ministered primarily in education and pastoral care. She served in the Diocese of Trenton for 21 years, teaching for six years in Holy Angels School, Hamilton; St. Leo the Great, Lincroft, for four years, and St. Anthony High School, Hamilton, for 11 years.
After the Trenton Diocese, she went on to serve for 51 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. After teaching Sister Regina went on to minister in pastoral care as a member of the Franciscan Care Team at Assisi House.
Sister Regina is survived by her sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and members of the Franciscan community.
Burial was in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
