Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton and the Brick-based Seeds of Service nonprofit will host the Silver Foxy Fashion Show from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 in St. Veronica Church, 4219 Route 9 N., Howell. Attendees can bid on clothing and gift baskets and enjoy a day of fun and fashion to benefit the two host agencies.
“The goal of the event is to raise funds to help sustain our community-based programs, providing for basic needs with special emphasis on services offered to our seniors, and to strengthen a partnership between CCDOT’s Community Services and the Seeds of Service program in Ocean County,” said Arnold Valentin Jr., CCDOT’s service area director for community services. “We believe investing in this partnership will provide additional needed services in our communities to help the most vulnerable.”
Valentin noted the event will highlight the needs of the local senior population and funds will benefit programs that address their unique needs, such as Catholic Charities’ “Fix-It program” in Ocean County. The program provides handyman services to elderly housebound individuals, enabling them to remain independently.
Funds raised at the fashion show, he continued, “will help fund volunteer training and coordination, buy supplies, maintain services throughout the year and hopefully even expand into Monmouth County.”
Seeds of Service, located on Mantoloking Road, Brick, is helmed by executive director Christie Winters and is a valuable partner to CCDOT in times of crisis, Valentin said.
“SOS joins Catholic Charities in our mission to assist and advocate for the sick, the poor and the needy in services designed to meet their needs,” he said. “Like us, they have many programs to meet community needs, such as providing young people with education and job readiness skills, building assistance, food and clothing pantries. SOS programs will benefit from the fundraising event to support and expand these initiatives.”
The show’s name resulted from collaboration between the hosting agencies’ committee to highlight the targeted demographic: the senior population. Silver Foxy fashion show models will include volunteer CCDOT staff members, senior clients from the “Fix-It” program and others who volunteer in the St. Vincent de Paul community clothing stores in Ocean and Monmouth counties. The looks will come from boutique owners and community partners such as the Jackson and Jersey Shore Outlets.
“Our goal is to provide an opportunity for our seniors and their families to celebrate looking and feeling great at any age,” Valentin said.
Tickets to the fashion show are $20 each and may be purchased by contacting Markeesha Ferguson at 609-394-8847 ext. 2529 or MFerguson@cctrenton.org.
