From staff reports
Did you ever wonder what worship was like for Jesus’ earliest followers who gathered to eat, pray and enjoy each other’s company in the comfort of a home?
Every Wednesday throughout the year, the Center for FaithJustice opens the doors of the Convent at St. Ann Retreat House, Lawrenceville, for an evening of Soup and Psalms, which begins with a simple meal prepared by a member of the community and is followed by Vespers, the evening prayer of the Universal Church.
Martha Dudich, who has served the Dioceses of Trenton and Metuchen as a minister of prayer and worship in nursing homes, parishes and retreat centers for more than 30 years, leads sung prayer and a reflection of the week’s Scriptures.
Dinner is served in the dining room at 6:30 p.m. Vespers begin at 7:15 p.m. in All Saints’ Chapel. The Convent at St. Ann Retreat House, or CASA, is a retreat facility located on the parish grounds of St. Ann Church, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. There is no cost or registration required.
