Dr. Joseph Tropea recently joined the medical staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. He specializes in hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Tropea comes to Lourdes from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadephia. Prior to that, Dr. Tropea was in private practice.
Board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology, Dr. Tropea completed a hematology/medical oncology fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, serving as chief fellow. He performed his internal medicine residency at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and his internship at Crozer Chester Medical Center, serving as chief intern.
Dr. Tropea earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Mo., and his bachelor’s degree in chemistry/biology from West Chester University, West Chester, Pa.
Throughout his career, Dr. Tropea has been an active member of various hospital committees, and served in numerous hospital leadership roles, including as cancer committee chairman, medical director, and cancer physician liaison.
Dr. Tropea is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Philadelphia County Medical Society.
