In conjunction with World Communications Day, parishes of the Diocese of Trenton will participate in the Catholic Communication Campaign during all Masses this weekend.
Pope Francis wrote the following in his message for this year’s World Communications Day, themed “Communication and Mercy: A Fruitful Encounter:”
“As sons and daughters of God, we are called to communicate with everyone, without exception. In a particular way, the Church’s words and actions are all meant to convey mercy, to touch people’s hearts and to sustain them on their journey to that fullness of life which Jesus Christ was sent by the Father to bring to all.”

The Catholic Communication Campaign is an annual national collection to support evangelization through the Internet, television, radio and print publications.
Last year, the collection provided funds for unprecedented coverage of Pope Francis’ visit to the United States and provides ongoing support for the USCCB website and Catholic News Service. Fifty percent of funds collected remain in the diocese to support local communications projects. The faithful of the Diocese contributed $45,420.78 to the 2015 campaign, which locally benefited projects of the diocesan Department of Multimedia Production.
The Catholic Communication Campaign also funds projects in developing nations where the local Church lacks resources to spread the Gospel message.
World Communications Day is celebrated each year on the Sunday before Pentecost. It was established by Paul VI after the Second Vatican Council in order to draw attention to the “the vast and complex phenomenon of the modem means of social communication.”
