From staff reports
Caritas Chamber Chorale, an a cappella ensemble, is holding scheduled auditions this August. All voice parts are welcome, however, tenors are particularly encouraged to come forward. The chorale’s 2018-2019 season will begin with rehearsal in late August in the Bridgewater area.
Caritas Chamber Chorale is an ensemble of 20-plus singers striving for musical, artistic and spiritual beauty, dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor through the art of sacred music. To achieve its mission, the ensemble presents concerts throughout central New Jersey and beyond for the benefit of the Adorno Fathers’ St. Francis Caracciolo Mission and their Gianni Diurni Primary School in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa.
Directed by founder Barbara Sanderman, the chorale works with composer-in-residence Wayne Dietterick and has premiered many of his works. As opportunities arise, the chorale participates in workshops and events with experts in choral music, collaborates with other choral groups, travels and performed concert tours, records, and participates in local outreach and other events.
Most of the sacred Christian repertoire is sung a cappella. Caritas Chamber Chorale typically practices on Friday evenings with most rehearsals in Bridgewater. Major performances in 2018-2019 are slated for October and June.
