Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., celebrated a diocesan White Mass for healthcare professionals Oct. 18 in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold.
While it was the first year for the Co-Cathedral to hold the Mass, the Bishop noted that for a number of years a White Mass has been celebrated in St. Luke Church, Toms River. The parish was scheduled to host the Mass later in the day.
The Bishop praised the work of those who dedicate their lives to the ministry of healing. A poignant moment of the Mass occurred after Communion when the healthcare professionals were asked to stand and extend their hands at which time the Bishop imparted his blessing.
