In response to the catastrophic twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela June 24, 2026, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., asked the faithful of the Diocese of Trenton to pray for the victims and support the relief effort.
In a message sent to pastors June 27, Bishop O’Connell issued the call for prayers, also asking the faithful to donate to Catholic Relief Services to aid affected families at crs.org/donate/venezuela-earthquake.
As of June 27, authorities set the death toll from the earthquakes at 1,430, with nearly 69,000 individuals reported missing. Rescue teams have streamed into the country by the thousands to help pull victims and survivors from the rubble and keep vital services flowing for residents.
The Monitor will post updates on the Venezuela relief effort as they become available.
