Funeral services will be held for Deacon Ronald J. Haunss of St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, who died July 27.
Visitation will be held July 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. in Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 Bay Ave., Barnegat. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 31 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 747 West Bay Ave., Barnegat.
Deacon Haunss was born in 1938 in Ridgewood, N.Y. He attended elementary school in Ridgewood and Brooklyn Technical High School, Brooklyn, N.Y., where he studied architecture. He earned an associates degree in architectural design from New York Community College in 1968 and worked for Chemical Bank. He was ordained a deacon in 2000 in St. Philip the Apostle Church, Clifton.
Over the years he served with the divorced and separated ministry and taught eighth grade Confirmation classes for parish religious education in St. Mary Parish.
Deacon Haunss is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Suzanne and Dianne; five grandchildren, and two siblings.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin.
