St. Raphael School, Hamilton, proudly welcomed one of its own for a special visit Feb. 25 as part of the school’s ongoing 75th anniversary celebration.
Hamilton Township Police Chief Kenneth R. DeBoskey returned to St. Raphael’s to revisit his days there as a student and graduate, where he toured the school with principal Joseph Slavin and learned about the many updates to SRS since his time here. The police chief brought with him Detective Bob O’Hare, who had visited SRS the prior year with a police K-9 unit.
Chief DeBoskey even ran into his former classmate, PreK-3 teacher Nancy Duffy (Beckett), with whom he graduated from McCorristin Catholic High School. The officers met with several classes, giving students insight into some of the responsibilities of the police department. Students were excited to share their stories of family members who serve in the police force, and learned about the Junior Police Academy, available to students beginning in sixth grade.
The school will celebrate 75 years with its Golden Ticket Event on April 18. For more information, please email srsgoldenticket@gmail.com or call 609-585-7733.
