Sister Josephine Wade, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Philadelphia who served for more than 20 years in various ministries in St. Denis Parish, Manasquan, died March 6. She was 86.
Funeral services were held March 11 in St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown, Pa. Burial followed at the Saint Joseph Villa cemetery.
St. Denis Parish will also celebrate a Memorial Mass at a date to be determined.
Sister Josephine was born in 1939 in Bayonne. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Philadelphia April 7, 1958; made first vows Aug. 14, 1960, and final vows Aug. 14, 1965. During her more than five decades of ministry she served in parishes and schools in the Dioceses of Camden and Wilmington, Del., as well as in the Archdioceses of Philadelphia and Newark, in addition to her assignment at St. Denis Parish.
Sister Josephine was preceded in death by her parents Luke and Bridget (nee Sullivan) Wade and her brothers Joseph, Thomas, Luke and Robert Wade. She is survived by her sisters Mary and Catherine Boyle, her brother Peter Wade, many nieces and nephews and members of her Congregation the Sisters of St. Joseph of Philadelphia.
