Parishes in the Diocese have scheduled the following events:
St. Pio of Pietrelcina, Lavallette, will hold a healing Mass Nov. 9 at noon in the church at 1100 Grand Central Ave. (Route 35 N). Father Joy Chacko, parochial vicar, will celebrate the Mass. Three parishes will host performances of Gian Carlo Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” Under the direction of Joseph Pucciatti, artistic director of Boheme Opera NJ, the production has been described by critics as an uplifting, inspirational opera of two children joined by faith on the eve of the Nativity. A poor mother and her disabled son, Amahl, who has a penchant for tall tales, open their humble home to the Three Kings on their westward, star-guided quest. What begins as a respite on the road to Bethlehem becomes a journey of learning, love and healing.
The performances will be held Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. in St. Mary Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown; Dec. 10, 6 p.m. in St. Gregory the Great Parish, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, and Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. in St. David the King Parish, 1 New Village Rd., Princeton Junction. Tickets are $30 for adults. Children 12 and under are admitted free. For ticket information, visit www.bohemeopera.org.
St. Gabriel Parish, Marlboro, will host a Christmas concert, “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in the church, 100 N. Main St. The concert will feature Candace Lynn Matthews, soprano; David Smolokoff, tenor; Anthime Miller, cello, with Andrew De Prisco, organist, and Joel Harder, pianist. A special performance by the parish children’s choir is also included. Seating is available with prepaid tickets only. Tickets are available through the parish office for a donation of $35. Tickets are not available online or by mail. All proceeds and donations will benefit the parish center’s newly renovated gymnasium floor.
Sacred Heart Gospel Choir, Trenton, will host a musical concert, “Give Thanks,” Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. in Holy Cross Church, 215 Adeline St. Under the direction of Rupert Peters, the concert will feature various genres of music including classical and Gospel. Guest artists, musicians and praise dancers will also be involved. Attendees are asked to contribute a food item for the parish food pantry. For more information, call 609-422-7871.
