The following parishes in and around the Diocese have announced the following Lenten events and programs:
• Sacred Heart Parish, Bay Head, will hold an Angels, Coffee, & Scripture series from Feb. 27 to April 10 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the parish hall at 751 Main Avenue. The discussions will explore angels in the Old and New Testament and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, to uncover the mysteries of how angels worked in the lives of God’s people throughout history and how they work in our lives today.

• St. David the King Parish, Princeton Junction, will hold a Lenten seminar on an inclusive dialogue on how people are shaping the planet March 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the church at One Village Road. Msgr. Vincent Gartland, a retired priest of the Diocese of Trenton, will discuss Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter (Laudato Sí) on Care for Our Common Home that is addressed to every person living on this planet.

Outside the Diocese
• St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Hillsborough, will present its annual Lenten series on the first four Fridays of Lent March 3, 10, 17 and 24 with a short service at noon and 7 p.m. in the church at 1900 Brooks Boulevard. The service will be followed by a meal with a series of guest speakers in the parish center. The service, program and meal are scheduled to last 90 minutes.
The presenters and topics are as follows: March 3, “Blessed Josaphata, SSMI – A Witness for our Times, P.S. – A Life of Prayer and Service,” presented by Provincial Superior of the Servants of Mary Immaculate Sister Kathleen Hutsko; March 10, “The Great Fast: Time to Become God-Like,” presented by Marie C. Nester, M. Ed., adjunct instructor of English at Harrisburg Community College; March 17, “Thirsting for Christ in the Fast,” presented by Ann M. Koshute, theologian who holds a master of theological studies from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family at The Catholic University of America, Washington, and March 24, “Holy Week: Accompanying Jesus to the Cross and Beyond,” presented by Father Frank Hanincik, pastor of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Allentown, Pa.
