Please hold in prayer Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., and all those participating in a listening session to mark the beginning of the Diocese of Trenton’s participation in “Share the Journey,” a two-year program of Caritas Internationalis. “Share the Journey” was officially launched by Pope Francis early Sept. 27 to promote encounters between people on the move and those living in the countries they are leaving, passing through or arriving.
Bishop O’Connell is leading a group of immigrants, parish and social service staff and volunteers in prayer, as well as in a listening session for attendees to share their immigration experiences with diocesan leaders. The hope is that those sharing will provide insight into how the Catholic community within the Diocese can best welcome those who are arriving locally from other countries.

Sept. 27 also marks two years since the Holy Father celebrated Mass on the Ben Franklin Parkway to cap his apostolic visit to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families.
Many Diocese of Trenton parishioners made the short journey to the City of Brotherly Love to witness the Pope’s visit and participate in the Mass, which drew hundreds of thousands of faithful from across the United States – and beyond.
Take a look back at coverage of Pope Francis’ visit from The Monitor:
