Catholic Youth Organization of Mercer County recently received a $2,500 grant from Trenton Thunder’s The Grand Slam We Care Foundation. The funds will go to support CYO Broad Street Center’s after-school tutoring program.
“This generous grant from the Trenton Thunder will provide direct support to the tutoring program at our Broad St. Center, which offers academic assistance to over 65 Trenton youngsters,” said CYO executive director Tom Mladenetz. “This is really a great partnership, because all the CYO families know the Thunder well – especially since their stadium is within walking distance of the CYO Center.”
And the children got a surprise when the Thunder representatives Jeff Hurley, general manager, and community affairs director Vince Marucci, arrived at the Center with a special guest.
“What made the presentation even more special was the personal delivery by [Thunder mascot] Boomer during circle time assembly for all 110 children in our After School Program,” Mladenetz said. “The kids loved it!”
