Catholic Women of Zion will hold its annual Women’s Rally Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 1139 E. County Line Rd., Lakewood.
Using the theme, “On earth, as it is in heaven,” the day will begin at 8 a.m. with the celebration of Mass by Father Michael Sullivan, pastor. The rally will continue with praise and worship, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a keynote address by international speaker, Maria Vadia, a Florida-based charismatic author and prayer leader.
Born in Havana, Vadia was 10 years old when she and her family fled to Miami, Fla., to escape the Communist regime in Havana. Though she had received a Catholic education, her decision to become more immersed in the faith came about during her marriage to a wealthy man. She realized that although she could afford many material possessions, she said she knew “something was missing,” and made the decision to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and dedicate her life to preaching the Gospel.
She is active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Archdiocese of Miami and has spoken at many charismatic conferences around the world, including the United States, the Caribbean, Malta, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Poland and Italy among other nations. She is founder of the Jesus Is Lord chapter of Magnificat in Miami, a ministry for Catholic women, and is connected with Glory House of Miami, a safe haven for human traffic victims. Her foundation is also helping to establishi housing for the pygmies in Kabale, Uganda.
Vadia authored seven books: “There Is Power In Your Tongue,” “Pressing On In The Spirit,” “An Arrow In His Hand,” “Healing Is For You,” “Break Open Your Wells,” “Victory In The Eye Gate,” and “No More Orphans.” She is the mother of four children and has seven grandchildren.
Cost to attend the rally is $35, and includes light continental breakfast, boxed lunch, music and speaker.
