Volunteers from the Diocese of Trenton and other local groups line up to serve breakfast and lunch to guests of the Nov. 24 Loaves and Fishes meal at St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton. Responding to the call of the Faith in Our Future initiative, parishes of Cohort 7 – St. Paul, Princeton; St. Ann, Lawrenceville; St. Anthony of Padua, Hightstown; St. David the King, West Windsor, and St. Hedwig, Trenton – gathered the day before in St. Paul’s parish hall to assemble supplemental bag lunches and toiletries for guests to take home. The joint efforts of the Cohort parishes was inspired last summer, said Anthony Montrone, St. Paul parishioner and Knight of Columbus, as part of “our mission … to look for opportunities where we can work together – the strength in numbers idea.” The Loaves and Fishes ministry serves a meal the last two Saturdays of every month in the Cathedral hall. St. Paul, St. Ann and St. David the King all commit annually to parish weekends during the summer to support the ministry. EmmaLee Italia photo
