Catholic marriage will be celebrated this weekend in the Diocese as about 170 married couples from Monmouth and Ocean Counties who are marking one, 25, 50 or more years of wedded bliss will be blessed by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.
The Oct. 2 Bishop’s Anniversary Blessing, to be held in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold, is the first of two such events this year. The second blessing will be Oct. 16 in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, for couples in Burlington and Mercer counties.
Participating couples will renew their vows and have their marriages blessed by the Bishop, who also will offer some thoughts on the meaning and importance of marriage today.
The Monitor will be reporting from St. Robert’s on Oct. 2. Watch for updates on social media so that you can post your blessings and congratulations for these special couples.
