Holmdel parish recognizes veterans

The Veterans Day parade held on the campus  of St. Benedict Parish and School, Holmdel, included the participation of an Army truck. Courtesy photos The faithful service that veterans have given in defense of the United States was prayerfully honored by the community of St. Benedict Parish and School, Holmdel.

On Nov. 7, more than 30 veterans gathered for an assembly featuring speaker Sgt. Nicole McCabe, a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and mother of two students in St. Benedict School – son, Devin, is in fourth grade, and daughter, Mia, is in kindergarten.

Sgt. McCabe served two tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and 2008. She is the recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with V for Valor for actions during the Battle of Ramadi. Her husband, Devin also serves in the U.S. Army.

Other highlights of the day included a parade featuring an Army truck and the presence of John Finnagan, of the U.S. Marine Corps and an alumni from the first graduating class of St. Benedict School in 1968.
