By Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.

Bishop David M. O'Connell, C.M., has shared this message for Memorial Day.

This weekend, we pause to remember and honor the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the extraordinary dedication and selflessness of those who fought to protect our freedoms, ensuring that generations to come may live in liberty and peace.

We stand in gratitude, not just for their bravery, but for their unwavering commitment to something greater than themselves. Their legacy lives on in our hearts, in the freedoms we cherish, and in the unity that binds us as a nation.

Let us take this day to honor their memory, to share stories of their heroism, and to support the families who carry their torch forward. May we never take for granted the sacrifices made in the name of justice, freedom, and peace. And may the souls of these brave men and women rest in God’s eternal peace!
