The Monitor ranks top of class for third time in five years

Congratulations go out to The Monitor, our diocesan newspaper, which was just awarded First Place, General Excellence in its circulation category by the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada. It is the third time in five years that our newspaper has received the top-of-class award.

he winners of the 2016 competition conducted by the CPA were announced during the Catholic Media Conference held in St. Louis in early June.  The CPA also presented The Monitor with five other awards or honorable mentions in recognition of its editorial writing, feature writing, multimedia presentation and special sections.

In addition to the CPA awards, The Monitor received the Archbishop Meara Award in the category of Mission Animation News for the article entitled “Missionaries reach out to inspire, encourage faithful of all ages,” written by Christina Leslie, Staff Writer.  The award was presented by the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States during the CMC conference.
