Super Plunge XIII scheduled for Feb. 5

Super Plunge XIII, a fundraiser organized by St. Francis Community Center and the swim team of Southern Regional High School, will take place Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. at the 48th Street Beach in the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township. The “Plunge” has become a popular community favorite during the winter and participation has increased each year.

Pre-registration is required. Registration will take place in St. Francis Community Center on Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration forms can be obtained in advance at the front desk of the Community Center or printed from the website, stfranciscenterlbi.org, and mailed to St. Francis Community Center, Attn: Super Plunge XIII, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach Township, N.J. 08008-3926. The fee is $30 per person on or before Jan. 29 and $35 if registering after Jan. 29. Student registration fee is $15 on or before Jan. 29 and $20 after Jan. 29. Participants are encouraged to seek sponsor donations in addition to their registration fee. Sponsor forms can also be found online.

All registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, which will also be available to spectators for purchase after noon on “Plunge Day.” Wristbands will be issued to all participants and must be worn at time of the plunge. Plungers should bring towel, bathing suit, blankets and change of clothes. Costumes of all kinds are encouraged.

Post-plunge activities will follow in the Community Center with refreshments and prizes.
