A program designed to help those dealing with the pain of separation and divorce who want to develop a closer relationship with God is being offered in St. Veronica Parish, Howell.

Over a period of 12 weeks, the Healing Hearts Support Group – facilitated by parishioner Maria Rodrigues, a diocesan-trained facilitator and North American Conference of Separated and Divorced Catholics regent board member – will lead participants through “DivorceCare,” a Bible-based series of DVDs that features Scripture and testimonies.

Video topics will include: “What’s happening to me?” “The Road to Healing/Finding Help,” “Facing My Anger,” “Facing my Depression,” “Facing my Loneliness,” “New Relationships,” “Financial Survival,” “Growing Closer to God” and more.

Discussion will follow each video presentation, and workbooks to accompany the video will be available for purchase.

“Going through a divorce it is not an easy process. It takes a lot of energy; the spiritual energy is the first to go,” Rodrigues said. “The focus of Healing Hearts is to lead those going through divorce to become closer to Jesus and come to experience real love. By attending, they will realize they are not alone in this process and can also learn from others as they journey together.”

The 12-week seminar will be held every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning April 19 in the church’s ACTS Office, located in the lower level of the rectory, 4215 Highway 9 North, Howell. No registration is required, and the sessions are free, unless those participating wish to purchase the video workbook, which is $20.

For more information, email [email protected] or contact Rodrigues at 732-363-5698.
