Skating And Saying Thanks

A lot of fun and camaraderie was shared on and off the ice rink when Father Brian Woodrow, pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish, Allentown, and some 300 parishioners enjoyed an afternoon in the Ice Land Skating Center,  Hamilton. The Jan. 31 skating event was hosted as a way to show appreciation to the young people who dedicate their time to the parish, namely the 60 boys who are altar servers and 50 girls who are Maidens of the Miraculous Medal – and their families. The event also provided an occasion for the community to celebrate some recent and energizing achievements. The parish has seen an increase in the number of parishioners and it also enjoyed successful participation in the Diocese’s Faith To Move Mountains Campaign, during which St. John the Baptist doubled its goal in pledges. According to Dorothy Conway, parish business manager, the people of St. John the Baptist Parish are truly grateful to Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., for his vision to secure the future of the Trenton Diocese through initiatives such as Faith To Move Mountains and Faith In Our Future. “Bishop O’Connell wants to keep the Diocese of Trenton healthy,” said Conway. “He truly wants to be sure that all the people -- the families, the priests and the religious – are taken care of. He’s making plans for the future and letting us know that the Church of Trenton is here to stay.” Photo courtesy of St. John the Baptist Parish.
