Register for May 6 pastoral care retreat

The Diocese of Trenton’s Department of Pastoral Care will hold its 10th annual Pastoral Care Retreat, “A Caregiver’s Day of Reflection and Renewal at the Shore,” beginning at 8:45 a.m. May 6 in San Alfonso Retreat House, Long Branch. The event is intended as a day of prayer, reflection and renewal, and will teach caregivers simple practices to uplift and strengthen them as they care for others.
Author John Patrick Gatton will lead the retreat and give a presentation titled “God’s Strengthening Love for Caregivers.” Father Martin McGeough, C.M., diocesan coordinator of jail and prison ministry, will be the principal celebrant for Mass.
The day is for all who journey with the sick: parish visitors of the sick, chaplains, clergy, religious, employees and volunteers in nursing homes, those who minister to hospices and hospitals, spiritual directors, family caregivers, faith-community nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Cost for the day-long retreat is $40 and includes a copy of Gatton’s book, continental breakfast and hot lunch. Deadline to register is April 29.
