Wearing proud smiles, five students in Notre Dame High School completed their Sacraments of Initiation during the blessed time of Holy Week.

Father Jason Parzynski, chaplain of the Lawrenceville school, celebrated a Mass March 28 during which sophomores Kyle Dowgin, Angelina Esperanza and Morgan Whitlock, and seniors Bryce Houck and Taylor Whitlock received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. The already-baptized Christians were part of the school’s Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults process. A sixth student, junior Shana Singh, was to celebrate all initiation Sacraments in her home parish, St. John the Evangelist, Lower Makefield, Pa., after going through the RCIA process at the school.

The RCIA was introduced into the high school last year when two students approached religion teacher Eileen Hart to inquire about becoming Catholic and completing the sacraments. Nine students have completed the program since then.
