'Northern Lights' concert coming to Colts Neck church

St. Mary Parish, Colts Neck, will be welcoming the Monmouth Civic Chorus to its church on June 2 for a performance of “Northern Lights,” a set showcasing choral compositions from the Baltics and Scandinavia’s musical history.

The evening will feature music from contemporary composers Arvo Pärt, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Veljo Tormis, Cyrillus Kreek and Vytautas Miskinis. Spectators will be provided with a dynamic range of distinguished Estonian, Lithuanian and Latvian compositions.

The show begins at 8 p.m. with a pre-concert discussion at 7:15 p.m. by Ryan Brandau, the chorus’ artistic director. The Monmouth Civic Chorus is a community chorus that sings both locally and in venues such as New York’s Carnegie Hall and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark.

 Tickets cost $30, $27 for seniors, $25 for groups and $5 for students and can be purchased through the MCC’s website, http://monmouthcivicchorus.org/public/event/northern-lights/
